River’s Edge Academy (REA) is the Twin Cities only Expeditionary Learning School. In the fall of 2009 REA will open with one hundred twenty 9th, 10th and 11th graders, adding 12th grade in 2010. The high school is committed to providing a small learning community for students in St. Paul.
Students will participate in hands on, place-based and Service Learning activities, in conjunction with academic studies that meet state standards. The ‘green’ school is committed to environmental education and stewardship. Curriculum is focused on the Mississippi River. The block schedule provides opportunity for cooperative and interdisciplinary study.

River’s Edge Academy is a tuition free, public, charter high school. The facility committee will be exploring many opportunities for the school site. REA will be located in Saint Paul, near water to enable accessible field work.
